Management Team

Members of the Larson & McGowin management team earned both undergraduate and master’s level degrees at recognized universities or schools and/or have received additional special training in their areas of expertise.

Each is registered and licensed to practice his or her professional discipline. The management team is disciplined, skilled, focused and committed to the high ethical standards established by the company.

Barrett B. McCall

President/Owner

A native of New Orleans, McCall earned an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of the South, and a Master of Forestry degree from Duke University. Mr. McCall’s expertise lies in land management operations and silviculture, large-scale property transactions and negotiations, strategic planning, timberland investments and forest economics. He has considerable experience working with private (family) ownerships on governance, transition and other related business issues.

Barrett serves on Alabama advisory board for Hancock Whitney Bank. Graduated with the XXVIII Class of Leadership Alabama. He is President-Elect of the Forest Landowners Association and was President of the Alabama Forestry Association in 2011-2012. He is a member of the Association of Consulting Foresters and is a registered forester in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina. McCall also has the Certified Forester designation from the Society of American Foresters.

L. Alexander McCall

Vice President and Principal, Project Services Group

Born in Montgomery, AL, McCall earned a Bachelor of Science in Forest Operation from Auburn University and joined Larson & McGowin, Inc., in 1993. His continuing education includes additional coursework at Auburn, the University of Georgia, and the Association of Rural Farm Managers and Appraisers in sample design and procedure, intensive forest management, timberland appraisal theory database management and rural property appraisal. His expertise includes timber estimate sample design and cruise compilation, timberland appraisal and appraisal theory and harvest planning to meet a multitude of landowner and stakeholder objectives. He also has extensive experience in timberland acquisition due diligence and negotiation.

Alexander McCall is active in a number of professional organizations and is registered as a Forester in both Alabama (License No. 1593) and as a General Real Property Appraiser in Alabama (G01281) and in Florida (RZ3936). He is a Practicing Affiliate with the Appraisal Institute, and has served as an expert witness on numerous occasions regarding the real property and timberland valuation issues.

Chandlar Graham

Vice President/Broker, Larson & McGowin Properties

A Birmingham native Chandlar earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from Auburn University and continued his education at The University of Alabama where he earned a Masters in Business Administration. Upon Completion of his education Chandlar joined Larson & McGowin as a Graduate Forester in 2002 where he spent several years in timberland management activities. Following his time at Larson & McGowin he then spent four years at the St. Joe Company as an asset manager responsible for the marketing and sales of company lands in Liberty and Gadsden County Florida and Stewart County Georgia.

Chandlar rejoined Larson & McGowin in 2010 as a founding partner of Larson & McGowin Properties. He is the Qualifying Broker for the company and is responsible for all real estate brokerage activities. The company has successfully brokered over 650,000 acres of timberland since its formation. Chandlar is an Alabama Registered Forester (Alabama #1965) and is a licensed Broker in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee & South Carolina.

Russell D. Autrey

Vice President, Forest Management Services

A native of Greenville, Alabama, Russell earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Resources from Auburn University. Russell’s expertise lies in timberland management operations and silviculture, large-scale timber transactions and negotiations, and strategic planning.

Russell joined Larson & McGowin, Inc. in 1996. Prior to his current role as Vice-President of Forest Management Services, he served as a Branch Manager and Regional Manager. Russell provides leadership and supervision for timberland management operations on all client properties in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. Russell has over 20 years of experience in managing Southeastern timberland, including extensive experience in mixed natural pine, longleaf pine, bottomland hardwood, and pine plantation forest types. Russell is a Registered Forester in Alabama (AL #1719), is Chairman of the Alabama Chapter of the Association of Consulting Foresters, and an active member of the Alabama Forestry Association.

Kurt R. Krueger

Vice President, Marketing and Consulting

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Krueger earned a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Missouri.  He continued his education through courses at the University of Georgia, the Appraisal Institute (AI) and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA).

Kurt joined Larson & McGowin in 2000.  Prior to his role as Vice President, he gained experience in project services as a project manager and in land management as the district manager of operations in Texas and Louisiana.  Kurt now directs marketing and business development efforts for Larson & McGowin and Silvics Solutions, our software development subsidiary. He is Registered Forester in Georgia (GA#2503) past treasurer of the Practicing Foresters Institute Trust and an active member of the Association of Consulting Foresters and Society of American Foresters.  Kurt was awarded the Outstanding Leadership in the Field of Forestry award by Texas SAF in 2008.

Ruth C. Seawell

Vice President, Analytical Services

A native of Montgomery, AL, and received her undergraduate degree in science (Natural Resources) from the University of the South and a Master of Forest Resources from the University of Georgia. Prior to joining Larson & McGowin, Seawell gained valuable experience in wood procurement logistics and timber supply at Alabama River Woodlands as a forest analyst. As the leader of Larson & McGowin’s analytical group, she provides financial analysis and harvest scheduling as well as wood supply, market, and silvicultural optimization studies. She has also been a key member of the team that designed Larson & McGowin’s forest information systems.

Seawell is a Registered Forester in Alabama (License #1168) and member of the Association of Consulting Foresters. She currently serves on the Georgia-Alabama Land Trust board as well as on the Technical Committee for SOFAC- Southern Forest Resource Assessment Consortium and representative in the FRMC – Forest Resource Modeling Cooperative. She served on the Alabama State Board of Register Foresters (2008-2013) and was named the Outstanding Young Forester for Alabama in 1992 by the Society of American Foresters.

Daphne E. Smith

Controller

Daphne Eddington Smith joined Larson & McGowin as Controller in January 2011. Smith, a native Mississippian, earned her undergraduate degree in business at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and is a licensed CPA in Alabama.

Smith is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the company and its two subsidiaries.  She comes to the company with over ten years’ experience as a public accounting auditor.  She started her career with Sikich, a regional CPA firm in Springfield, Illinois and then worked with Smith Dukes in Mobile, Alabama for over six years as an Audit Manager.  She provided a variety of services to clients, including financial audits of nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and trusts; recommendations for improvement of internal controls; and consultation on technical accounting and financial reporting issues and implementation. Most recently, Smith gained valuable experience as Controller for a marine and oilfield services provider. Daphne is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Alabama Society of CPAs, the Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business, and the Junior League of Mobile.

Gregory P. Triplett

Vice President, Geospatial Services

Gregory P. Triplett is Vice President, Geospatial Services. Born in Louisville, MS, he received his Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Mississippi State University in 1976. He is also a retired artillery major from the Mississippi National Guard after 20 years of service. Greg works between both Larson & McGowin and its subsidiary software development company, Silvics Solutions, LLC, to continue to expand our service offering in natural resource software, including combining the Integrated Forest Management Systems (IFMS) and ForestPro Manager into a single platform now known as Silvics 2.0, custom Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing services, spatial analysis services, and other geospatial technologies.

He joined Larson & McGowin following a long and distinguished career with Georgia-Pacific, The Timber Company and Plum Creek Timberlands. He was part of the original development team that envisioned the IFMS system that continues to set the standard for enterprise GIS applications in forestry. Greg is a member of the Society of American Foresters.
